Pulteney Bridge was designed by Robert Adam in 1770 he took his inspiration from the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.
The weir on the River Avon in front of the bridge was rebuilt in 1974 to let pleasure craft to pass under the bridge and come alongside the riverbank by the Recreation ground.
