St John the Baptist church at Midsomer Norton dates from approximately 1150. The Midsomer Norton Knight is a 13th or possibly 14th century tomb effigy carving which is thought to be the figure of one of the Gourney or Warknel family The font is Norman and the east window include stained glass by Charles Eamer Kempe which was installed in 1889
