St Mary's Church or The Minster as it is better known dates from the 15th century and it is thought to be one of the finest parish churches in the country. The church has grade one listed building status and has some interesting features. From its beautiful new engraved glass doors to the slugs and snails on the reredos this is reredos or raredos is an altarpiece, or a screen or decoration behind the altar in a church, usually depicting religious iconography or images so why the slugs and snails we dont know
